Flanagan's Sports Bar is a longstanding establishment that has been serving the community since 1990. Recently, the interior has undergone a fresh remodel, featuring 25 new HD TVs for optimal sports viewing. Under new management, the bar has introduced an exciting new food and cocktail menu, ranging from classic pizzas and tacos to signature smash burgers. Guests can also enjoy video gaming from 7AM until closing, as well as planned future entertainment options like pool tables and games in the banquet areas. Flanagan's is committed to providing a premier sports bar experience and invites you to be a part of the changes happening at this local favorite.
Flanagan’s Bar and Grill in North Chicago has an interesting history, as it was built on the site of the former Metro Lounge (pre 1990). It was built, expended and managed by the owner, John Psihos.
Over time, the bar expanded significantly to encompass over 12,000 square feet, including multiple dining and bar areas, banquet rooms, as well as entertainment including pool tables, dart boards, a Chicago-style bar.
It became a local hub for entertainment, known for hosting DJ nights on weekends and throughout the week, featuring music genres like hip-hop, R&B, and pop as well as one of the first Latino nights in the Chicagoland area.
The bar has attracted several notable patrons, including athletes like Michael Jordan, Dennis Rodman, Ron Harper, Toni Kukoc, Scottie Pippen as well as many of the now retired Chicago Bears, Cubs, Sox and Bulls players. Notable figures who visited include David Copperfield and Sidney Poitier. Barack Obama hosted a political event during his time as a U.S. Senator before his presidency.
In addition to its role as a sports bar and dance venue, Flanagan’s offered a diverse food menu, from steaks and seafood to burgers, Greek, and Mexican dishes. It's also linked with the nearby Full Moon Restaurant and the now sold Café Oceana in Gurnee.
